![]() I also think the ending, especially the way it’s presented, is just fan fictiony. The story feels pretty squished together and underdeveloped overall and I just thought about how much better it could’ve been if it was just a sequel series instead. While I think the directing is pretty strong throughout the movie and managed to keep me awake and pay attention, they really should’ve left the series as it was. The acting is all fine, and the special effects (aside from Al’s armor which is surprisingly well done) is pretty meh. It feels very rushed as any movie adaptation of that much material probably would be. The controversy over using Japanese actors was stupid and the least of the film’s problems. The movie gave me the impression that at least some people involved had read the manga or watched the anime, so it had that up on some other adaptations. The live action movie was bad, but not nearly as bad as it could have been and for that much I am thankful. The setting is kind of cool and I actually liked the animation style, but it goes too far with the twists and could have spent more time on the Elrics themselves (also I feel like the movie should have cut characters like Mustang, Hawkeye, and Winry or given them more to do because they feel shoehorned in). It was a watchable side story that is completely unnecessary unless you are a big fan of the characters. It was very silly at times (in stark contrast to the ‘03 version itself, which I felt was needlessly dark especially near the end), made a few character choices I didn’t really like, and still felt kind of unsatisfying as an ending to me. The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Arslan Senki)Ĭonqueror of Shamballa was a much better ending than the one that ‘03 got, but it wasn’t perfect. My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia).Subreddits for similar and recommended shows/manga, and for other works by Hiromu Arakawa Use the links below to view only posts in a particular flair category. I could go on and on and on about how bad this movie is but I’ll stop here. He’s bland and not a good villain in general. He’s just a wanna be power obsessed person that wanted to rule Amestris. Instead of freaking Bradley or Father they make a new villain, Hakuro. In summary all of acting wasn’t that good throughout the movie and was painful to watch. Her personality around auto mail isn’t as energetic and enthusiastic as the anime Winry. Winry’s actor wasn’t that good either, she portrayed Winry as a regular carefree girl. He acts like Ed is a emo kid with all the problems in the world. He kind of butchers the character all together. The person they casted for Ed could of been much more better. ![]() ![]() The acting wasn’t the best I’ve seen in live action stuff. Lol I would totally talk about Nina, Tucker, and Trisha and Marco but I have other things I want to mention. But in general, Ed isn’t Ed in this movie, he’s a different character in general. But it seems like Roy gets a lot of spotlight for a ‘side character’. But this movie is called FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST for a reason. He’s probably the only thing good in this movie. Also they bounce around with the main protagonist, first it’s Ed then Roy then back and forth. And his brain is the thing that gets him in and out of trouble. When Ed became a state alchemist this caused him to mature quicker then a regular child. Like I’m the beginning he’s just acting like a complete child, yes I know he is one but its not his personality at all. In the live action they portray him as a dumb regular kid that just happened to pass the State Alchemist exam. He doesn’t change throughout the film at all, and they completely stray from his personality from Brotherhood and the original. Let’s start off with Ed, the freaking main character, HE HAS NO DEVELOPMENT AT ALL. The thing that ticks me off is the character development, heck there is barely any to begin with. And I was completely disappointed even with my lowest expectations. More Central soldiers/Roy’s team action and Royai, it didn’t have to be a lot just a little. When I watched it I had low expectations, I wanted only two things.
